If you live in the Kanto area, you may have seen the green and white trucks passing by or parked on the side of the road. These delivery trucks with the cute cow mascot on the side are owned and operated by Pal System.

Origin of the name - 名前の由来

The name Palsystem derives from the English words "pal" (friend or companion) and "system" (institution or organization). It was chosen to mean "participation of individuals in building a large-scale collaborative operation."

英語の pal（友達）と system（制度）を組み合わせた造語で、「個人の参加が大きな協同を作り出す」という意味を込めています。

Founded on February 9th, 1990, Co-ops were originally based on group orders between neighbors. In the 1990s, as more and more people were working, Pal System was one of the first to start "home delivery to individuals" after much trial and error. This initiative spread to co-ops across the country. We continue to create systems and products that respond to changes in lifestyle.

生協はもともと、ご近所同士などのグループ注文が基本でした。共働きが増えていった1990年代、試行錯誤のうえ、パルシステムはいち早く「個人宅配」をスタート。その取り組みは全国の生協に広がりました。くらしの変化に寄り添う仕組みや商品づくりを続けています。

パルシステム 2030 ビジョン - 「たべる」「つくる」「ささえあう」ともにいきる地域づくり

Pal System, a consumer cooperative, has defined the issues it will address and the goals it will aim for by 2030 as the "Pal System 2030 Vision."

As the world faces a variety of challenges, we aim to realize a society of coexistence from the perspective of everyday life, with our eyes set on the same direction as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of "leaving no one behind."

生活協同組合であるパルシステムが、2030年までに取り組むべき課題とめざす姿を、「パルシステム2030ビジョン」として位置づけました。

世界がさまざまな課題に向き合っている今、SDGs（持続可能な開発目標）の掲げる「誰ひとり取り残さない」と同じ方向を見据え、身近な暮らしの視点から共生の社会の実現をめざします。

Providing food to food banks - フードバンクなどに食品を提供

With the economic downturn and the COVID-19 pandemic, more and more people are struggling with their daily meals. Pal System is working with local support groups to provide support to people in need. Since providing food to the “New Year's Eve Dispatch Village" in 2008, Pal System has focused on supporting the needy.

経済の低迷やコロナ禍で、日々の食事にも困る人が増えています。パルシステムは、各地の支援団体と連携して、生活に困窮している人たちへの支援に取り組んでいます。パルシステムは、2008年に「年越し派遣村」へ食品を提供して以来、生活困窮者への支援に力を入れてきました。

Starting in 2019, they have provided spare produce in case of damage during transportation, as well as bread that they secured to fulfill orders from their members, to children’s cafeterias, food banks, and homeless support groups in various regions. While most of the food provided to support the organization is preserved food, fresh produce delivered from Pal System is popular among the recipients.

2019年からは、輸送中の傷みなどの発生に備えた予備の青果や、組合員の注文に滞りなくこたえるために確保しているパンを、各地の子ども食堂やフードバンク、ホームレス支援団体などに提供しています。支援団体に提供される食品は保存食が多いなか、パルシステムから届く新鮮な青果は支援先でも好評です。

They provided about 90 tons of backup supply directly from various production areas - 産直産地から届いた予備品約90t を提供しました。

Providing bread - パンの提供

About 11000 bags - 約1.1万袋

They offer more than a dozen kinds of extra backup supply from Palbread, the manufacturing company of the Pal system. - パルシステムのパン製造会社「パルブレッド」の予備品十数種を提供しています。

Food drive - フードドライブ 16.0t

Unused household food is collected and donated by local co-ops. - 家庭の未使用食品を各地域の生協で集めて寄贈しています。

More food drives - フードドライブを、もっと

In 2023, “purchase-based food drives” began in some areas. Unlike traditional food drives, where household food is donated, Pal System members order items for the food drive and provide food to those in need through the food bank. This new initiative allows people to participate in food drives even when they don’t have food to donate at home.

2023年度から、一部の地域で「購入型フードドライブ」がスタート。家庭にある食品を寄付する従来のフードドライブとは異なり、組合員がフードドライブ用に商品を注文し、フードバンクを通じて食料を必要としている方に提供します。家庭に寄付できる食品がないときでもフードドライブに参加できる、新しい取り組みです。
