Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor out, or showing up for an issue or people we care about, we each have something to contribute.
This year we're celebrating the 1st year of Giving Tuesday in Japan! Over the past 10 years, Giving Tuesday has grown into a global movement with hundreds of millions of people participating in whatever ways they can.
With active movements in over 90 countries, we work year-round to inspire generosity around the world, with a common mission to create a world where giving is part of everyday life. If you can show generosity and share kindness, you have something to give!
Here are 10 ideas to help you inspire giving in your community:
Look for a local fundraiser, community drive, or coordinated event to join others in your area.
Sell old items and donate the proceeds to a local charity on GivingTuesday.
Reach out to a neighbor in need: send them a card, cook them a meal, bake them some treats, or share a coffee with them.
Announce on social media that you are participating in #GivingTuesdayJP and encourage others to do the same.
Share your giving story by posting an #UNselfie. This post on social media shares a message about why you give back. Download the template here.
Support local businesses. Buy your holiday gifts from local shops or order takeout from a neighborhood restaurant.
Pick up trash in your neighborhood or help others with recycling.
Give Blood. The decision to donate your blood can save a life, or even several!
Go to/send a letter to your local politician's office to encourage action and discuss concerns.
Pay It Forward. Leave a great online review for a business you love. Or pay for the next person's order at the supermarket or drive-thru.
